Description : The Student Writer: Editor and Critic is an introduction to composition which aims to provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of the writing process facilitating the construction of coherent and critical arguments. The Student Writer offers a unique emphasis on revision and editing. The "Critique, Revise, and Edit" feature focuses on the need for writers to examine their drafts critically with their audience and purpose in mind and to revise accordingly.
The Student Writer takes a sequential approach by introducing readers to the value of critical reading, and then moves on to the construction and blending of various rhetorical patterns. Students are encouraged to apply the rhetorical patterns in argument, in research papers, in literary analyses, and more. With the help of The Student Writer readers will develop their own writing processes and become more creative, confident, and critical writers.
New Features :
Emphasis on Revision ? A theme of revision is integrated throughout the whole text. The ?Critique, Revise, and Edit? feature in every chapter helps students to look critically at their own drafts and revise accordingly.
Blending Rhetorical Modes ? Each mode is discussed both on its own and in combination with other modes to create more realistic writing.
Abundance of Student and Professional Essays ? A collection of primarily Canadian essays is integrated throughout. Each chapter includes one annotated student essay which acts as a study aid.
Retained Features :
Highlights the Connection between Reading and Writing ? Introduces strategies for critical reading, such as analyzing sources and audience.
